Today on TikTok, the previously-anonymous Canadian man who opened the elusive 1 of 1 “The One Ring” Magic: the Gathering card came forward that he had sold what promises to be the game’s most expensive piece of cardboard to date.
While there has been no discussion of the specific price, fans estimate it’s likely higher than the $2 million USD bounty placed on the game piece from Spanish game store Gremio de Dragones, unless the novelty of selling to the famous rap artist proved too tempting, even at a lower price point.
Post Malone has been a lifelong fan of Magic: the Gathering, having appeared in multiple popular YouTube channels dedicated to the game like the WotC-sponsored Game Knights and the biggest MtG-focused YouTube channel, Tolarian Community College. Sensing an opportunity to further capitalize on such a mainstream artist’s organic love for the game, the Secret Lair program created not one but two “drops” full of cards reskinned to represent Malone or his tattoos. Your author here is quite the fan of these lands in particular!

Beyond bringing in fans from The Lord of the Rings with its most recent expansion, Tales from Middle Earth made headlines nearly every week with its 1 of 1 The One Ring card, as bounties climbed with the ever-growing hype. While the price of a booster box has mostly recovered, the sales volume of Collector Booster Boxes has certainly plummeted in the time since it was verified by Wizards of the Coast that the card had been found, as we discussed in a previous article.
